VIS is an independent exhibition space based in Hamburg, which pursues a dedicated and non-efficient program. The aim is to provide an open space for the presentation and reception of art, to allow for new perspectives on questions of the social conditions of cultural production. Against this backdrop, VIS presents critical contemporary practices, and offers an invitation to experience art as a possibility of distancing yourself from social productivity.
VIS is run by Nadine Droste and Nick Oberthaler. The program is realized with
the kind support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Free and
Hanseatic City of Hamburg, and the
Federal Chancellery of Austria. The event series Freedom of Purpose takes place with the generous support of the Hamburgische Kulturstiftung.
Our thanks for the wine support goes to winery Machherndl, Wachau, and Philipp Geymüller from Domäne Baron Geymüller, Hollenburg, and Abothek.
